Although the complex is located on a hill, it is possible to walk to the center of the city, as just outside the gate you reach a path that leads to the lake, where the historic center of the city is located. The town of Cernobbio, where the complex is located, is on the eastern shore of Lake Como, at the foot of Mount Bisbino. Cernobbio is known not only for the beauty of its landscapes, but also for the presence of historic houses that belonged in the past to various famous people. Since the beginning of the 19th century Cernobbio has been one of the favorite vacation spots for the wealthy families of Como and Milan. Here you can admire a large number of villas and gardens scattered in the area.
Cernobbio boasts one of Italy's most famous villas, Villa D'Este. The villa was built in 1568 as the summer residence of Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio and was designed by the famous architect Pellegrino Tibaldi. Later, in 1873, the villa was transformed into the luxurious Grand Hotel Villa d'Este, maintaining the elegance, charm and splendor that today attracts important people, politicians, bankers and businessmen. Precious works of art are still housed there.
Another important villa in the city is the luxurious Villa Erba. Today it is an important convention center and event venue. It was built in 1898 on the site of the existing Villa Nuova, which once housed a medieval monastery.
From Cernobbio starts the Via dei Monti Lariani, a path for hikers fully equipped with various signs. From the village you can reach Mount Bisbino, on the top of which there is a sanctuary dating back to 1500. After the village of Rovenna, at an altitude of 600 meters there is the Buco delle Volpe, a cave with underground waters.
